A Metalaphone is any musical instrument consisting of tuned metal bars which are struck to make sound, usually with a mallet. Metallaphones have been used in music for 100s of years. There are several differnt types used in balinese and Javanese gamelan ensembles, including the gender, gangsa and saron. Such instruments have a singlerow of bars, tuned to the distinctive pelong or slendro scales, or a substet of them. The western glockenspiel and vibraphone are also metallaphones: they have two rows of bars, in an imitation of the piano keyboard, and are tuned to the chromatic scale.

The Pegasus metallaphone is made with twenty- three resonated aluminium bars in the key of C major. This outdoor musical instrument can be wall mounted or set on a sturdy stand. Like the other products in this range the pegasus has been inspected by the play inspection company who have confirmed its compliance with En1176. Spare parts are avaliable to order.
